Men spin-off X-Force finds writer and director in Drew Goddard

Deadpool really helped give some new life to what Fox is able to do with the X-Men franchise and next year will see the release of a couple new spin-offs, which have both wrapped production.

This isn't the first time that Goddard has been embroiled in superhero madness, having previously worked on Marvel's Daredevil for Marvel and Netflix and also developing The Sinister Six movie for Sony Pictures before the Spider-Man/Marvel Studios deal.

That said, it's going to have to take his evil in patience since this movie X Force has for the moment no shoot date and is only in its infancy.

Drew Goddard to Write, Direct 'X-Men' Spinoff 'X-Force'

X-Force will be the ideal film to help build the foundation of future films on as well, and it's all thanks to Deadpool. There are plenty to choose from as X-Force has included the likes of Wolverine, Psylocke, Archangel, Bishop, Colossus, Fantomex, Sunspot, Warpath, and many more. Although a movie featuring Marvel's militant mutants had been rumored for years, it's now official - according to the folks at Deadline, Fox has hired The Cabin in the Woods director Drew Goddard to write and direct X-Force. His kinetic writing/directing style should be ideal for X-Force. In the comics, the first incarnation of X-Force was founded by the time-traveling mutant Cable. And now, we can surely expect one kickass super-hero movie experience from X-Force! The mutant strike team's objective was to be more proactive than the X-Men when it came to combating threats.

New Mutants makes its big debut on April 13, 2018. Not only did the leaked set images show Ryan Reynold's merc with a Mouth crashing a children's party, but they also gave fans at look at Zazie Beetz Domino in action as well as Josh Brolin's version of Cable. It's impossible to tell whether he'll be using anything from any of the (at least) four other drafts, but with his superhero pedigree and the enormous success of the Deadpool franchise so far, it looks like X-Force is finally going to truly hit the silver screen.

But Shaw cautioned that doesn't illustrate the entire picture, recounting conversations from when he recruited Love to Palo Alto. Although the win over the Owls was impressive, Saturday night's matchup is a better gauge of where this team stands for 2017.
