Sonic Mania's Offline Play Bug Patched On PCs

31 August 2017

A bug was preventing people from playing offline, even though it was supposed to be playable offline. "I thought Sega learned that - the Bayonetta port didn't have that crap." are the brunt of the game's 500+ negative recommendations on Steam right now, with more flooding in every minute. Though they were highly anticipating the game upon release (it launched yesterday on PC), fans are very displeased with the final product, as they had previously believed the game was available for offline play and were made unaware of the implementation of DRM beforehand.

We'd like to thank the community for their honest feedback with regards to Sonic Mania on PC. Here's how the top review on the Sonic Mania store page reads.

"I was planning to buy this game when I get paid this weekend, but with the inclusion of Denuvo DRM, I'll just wait for a cracked copy", another wrote.

Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (NYSE:APC) Dips Under Moving Averages
Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (Anadarko), launched on June 12, 1985, is an independent exploration and production company. Since May 17, 2017, it had 3 insider buys, and 0 sales for $2.14 million activity. (NYSE:PEP) on Wednesday, March 1.

Fans responded in kind by expressing their opinions on social media and review-bombing the Sonic Mania Steam listing, slamming the game with negative reviews in an effort to get Sega to take action. From the little I've played and everything I've heard from the console releases, they have done some stellar work which is sadly being undermined by some abrasive DRM they seemingly had no say about. The publisher also added Denuvo to the list of features so Steam buyers know the game has DRM at all.

The game will run properly if you connect to the internet, boot the game, then keep the game running while you leave internet range, but if you're offline on Steam you won't be able to open Sonic Mania. Sega, for some reason, had declined to mention this before release and as a result the game is receiving a bit of a hammering in Steam reviews. "We're fixing that now", said Sega in its statement. "We're also investigating other issues like controller support, these are all PC specific things that Christian and the team have been working on these last few weeks".

"Please bear with us while we collate and investigate problems that are being brought to our attention".
