Authorities said a criminal investigation confirmed Komisarchik pressed the emergency button twice, according to the Denver Post.
Almost a month later, a Denver fire lieutenant was inspecting an apartment complex adjacent to Woodstream that is also managed by Greystar when the maintenance manager received a call from elevator fix staff saying they thought there was a body in the elevator.
Almost a month later, his decomposing body was found in an inoperable elevator at the Woodstream Village apartments in Denver after tenants complained to management about an bad smell coming from a parking garage area that was under renovation, CNN affiliate KMGH reported.
Residents at the Woodstream Village Apartments said they approached management several times prior to August 2 about an odor coming from the parking garage.
Isaak Komisarchik, 82, was last seen alive on July 5.
Greg Pixley, a captain on the Denver Fire Department, said police detectives are still trying to figure out why no one responded to the call for help after the senior citizen became stuck in the elevator.
Family members said the last time they saw Komisarchik, he was wearing gray pajama trousers and a gray-and-white striped shirt around 2pm on July 5.
"Something is not right", Pixley said.
Federer, Canadian teen Shapovalov reach semis in Montreal
Haase said it was hard for both players after playing tough three-set matches against seeded players earlier in the week. The second-seeded Federer continued his mastery over 12th-seeded Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain with a 6-4, 6-4 victory.
According to Pixley, pressing the emergency alarm will typically send an alert to an on-site security group or emergency monitoring agency who will then call the fire department's dispatch.
Denver Medical Examiner's spokesman Steven Castro said the cause of Komisarchik's death has not yet been determined.
However, the parking-garage where Komisarchik was found had been closed for renovation.
Managers of the Woodstream Village apartment complex did not answer most of 9NEWS' questions on Thursday, instead opting for a statement.
Denver Fire said it never received a notification that the elevator in the parking garage was broken, and records show this specific one met the 2016 fire code requirements and was certified to run.
She wrote that the elevator was not in use due to the renovation and said Greystar is "continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident with the local authorities".
When a Denver firefighter responded, the elevator doors were open.
The cause of Komisarchik's death has not yet been determined, as officials said it's hard to determine when a body is badly decomposed.
