Sharp's Aquos S2, left, next to Apple's iPhone 7.SharpIn phone-speak, "bezels" are the borders around a smartphone's display. The trend with bezel-less phones like this has been to curve the corners of the display, but the Aquos S2 just cuts them off.
There's also a more premium edition of the device which packs a more powerful Snapdragon 660 processor along with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
The Aquos S2 will ship with a new UI called Smile UX which has a smart assistant built into it. While the concept of bezel-less display was brought about by Samsung and Xiaomi recently, Sharp had already released a smartphone years ago that revolved around the same concept, more body to screen ratio.
Jumping straight to the specifications, the smartphone features a 5.5-inch Full HD+ LCD display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2040 pixels and 55 nits brightness along with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass protection.
Now, you have probably been wondering why are we following the leaks and rumors about one Sharp Aquos S2 that probably wouldn't come to the United States, but upon seeing the all-screen renders and the tips it will feature an in-display finger scanner, it might have become palatable to wait on it.
Jaguars' Albert reverses course on retirement
Albert skipped most of the Jaguars' offseason program while lobbying for a new contract, and trained in South Florida. After declining to comment on the situation Monday the Jaguars released the following statement on Tuesday.
Apple's upcoming iPhone 8 is also expected to come with a weird-looking notch. Aquos S2 will be available in black, white, and blue panels, but later there will be other options. The smartphone has a vertically placed dual camera module with a dual-LED CCT flash below it.
Announced in Beijing on Tuesday, the phone has a small chunk of bezel on the bottom, where its fingerprint scanner lives. The Aquos S2 has Android Nougat for an OS. But what seems to be a disappointing move for now is that the Aquos S2 will be limited to the Chinese smartphone market.
There are indeed two versions, differing in processors (Snapdragon 630/660), RAM amount (4/6GB), and internal storage of 64/128GB. In both the variants, the storage is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card slot. In the camera department, there is a dual camera setup featuring 12MP and 8MP sensors that offer f/1.75 aperture and PDAF.
The company is also offering the RoboS AI that was first introduced with the Sharp's RoBoHon launched a year ago in Japan. It has 3000 mAh battery with support to Quick Charge 3.0. Dimensions of new items is 141,8 x 72,04 x 7.9 mm and weighs 140 grams.
