NEW MUTANTS Loses A Dawson But Gains A Braga

She seems like a good fit for the character, and definitely has the experience to take on a major role in a movie like this.

Acting since the late 1990s, Alice Braga's notable credits include I Am Legend, Repo Men, Predators, Elysium and The Shack.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dawson has exited the upcoming New Mutants film, just a few weeks after she was said to be in talks about joining the movie. The reasons for Dawson's departure have not been made clear.

Filming for X-Men: New Mutants is expected to begin this July. He reteams with the ensemble cast of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Alexandra Shipp.

Braga will play Dr. Cecilia Reyes, a medical doctor who has the ability to generate a protective bio-field around herself but also has more going on than she lets on.

X-Men: New Mutants has a release date already inked in of April 13th 2018, and it'll be the first of next year's three X-Men movies that 20th Century Fox has lined up.

Braga first gained notice in 2007's I Am Legend with Will Smith and now stars on the USA's television series Queen of the South.
