Prince Harry admits doubts about his royal service

26 June 2017

Prince Harry has revealed that he once considered giving up his royal title.

The revelation comes only days after the prince confessed that no one in the royal family wants to take on the role of king or queen.

Harry even suggested that no one in the royal family is itching to take over for Queen Elizabeth II, even as the duty looms. Seven days after Diana died in a Paris vehicle accident, Harry, William, Prince Charles, their grandfather, Prince Philip, and uncle, Earl Spencer, walked in a procession behind her coffin through the streets of London - an experience, Harry said, no child should experience.

"No child should be asked about this", said Harry. "We want to know they are human and have feelings as we do, but ultimately, to preserve the magic, we need them to be at one remove from us".

"Even if I was king, I would do my own shopping", he said.

His confession follows his recent comments when he cast doubt that any of the royals "wants to be king or queen".

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been dating for about a year, and everyone is convinced that the two will eventually walk down the aisle. "I don't think so", Harry says, adding, "but we will carry out our duties at the right time".

In a recent interview with Newsweek, Harry divulged the details of his "relatively normal life", discussing the pressures of royalty and the awful memory of his late mother's funeral. "We don't want to be just a bunch of celebrities but instead use our role for good", he said.

In new astonishing comments unearthed over the weekend, the fifth in line to the British throne said he struggled to find himself a meaningful role to play after his decade-long service in the British Army came to and end.

'I felt very resentful, ' he said.

Harry also revealed he had come close to several breakdowns due to being in the public eye, but chose to take inspiration from his late mother and use his high profile status to raise awareness of various important social issues including mental health.

"I sometimes still feel I am living in a goldfish bowl, but I now manage it better".

The Prince said he disliked aspects of life in the public eye but was now determined to lead a relatively normal existence.
